Yankees Decline Arbitration to Free Agents, Mussina Retires

The New York Yankees have decided not to offer arbitration to any of their free agents this off season.  By not going to arbitration, the Yankees have calculated that they can save some money in saleries for next year. For more details, see this story.

Yankees Aquire Swisher and Texeria

In a deal with the Chicago White Sox, the NY Yankees obtained switch hitter Nick Swisher and pitcher Kanekoa Texeria. Going to the Sox were Wilson Betemit and two minor league players. See this story for further details.
