September 19, 2009. The New York Yankees wasted no time recovering from last nights shocking loss. CC Sabathia was outstanding tonight as the New York Yankees had their way with Seattles pitching defeating them 10-1. CC went seven strong innings, allowing just one unearned run on four hits while striking out eight. Sabathia is now 18-7 on the season and is tied for the American League lead in wins. Brian Burney, sporting a new number, 99, (he had been wearing number 38) pitched the eighth giving up two hits but no runs. Jonathan Albaladejo came in for the ninth and let two men on base but held Seattle scoreless. Mark Texeria had a big night. Texeria went 4 for 5 with two homeruns (#’s 35 & 36) and 5 rbi’s on the night. He also hit his third triple in his last five games and leads the American League with 118 rbi’s. It was also his fourth two homer game this season. Final box score: Yankees – 10 runs, 18 hits, 1 error; Mariners – 1 run, 7 hits, 0 errors. Half of the Yankees hits were for extra bases. Next game: Sunday, Sept. 10th, 4:10 PM, New York @ Seattle.

Burnett had started for the Yankees and he was outstanding tonight and he left after seven innings leading 2-1. Phil Hughes pitched a scoreless eighth. Mariano stuck out the first two in the ninth; the second one gave him his 1,000th career strikeout. Then it happened, a double, and then a homerun. The Mariners walked off with a 3-2 victory. Ugh. Final box score: Yankees – 2 runs, 8 hits, 0 errors; Mariners – 3 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors. Next game: Saturday, Sept. 19th, 10:10 PM, New York @ Seattle.
