Yankees Out Slug Jays

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

July 5, 2009.  In a long and wild game, the New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Bluue Jays 10-8.  The Yankees struck early and led 4-0.  But Joba Chamberlain didn’t have much today, his fastball was off, and before you knew it the Jays led 8-4.  Joba did not make it out of the fourth inning. But the Yankees fought back.  Posado went 4 for 5 and as did Jeter. Matsui had a 3 run homer and Jeter connected for a 2 run shot. All this was possible due to the great relief pitching of Alfredo Aceves who pitched four scoreless innings including the ninth and earning his first major league save.  Tomorrow the Yankees go for the four game sweep.  Final box score:  Blue Jays  8 runs, 12  hits, 1 error;  Yankees 10 runs,  14 hits, 2 errors.  Next game: Tuesday, July 6th, 1:05 PM, Toronto @ New York.
