Yankees Sweep Rays, Jeter Ties Gehrig

Wednesday, September 10, 2009.  The New York Yankees staged another dramatic come from behind victory tonight while Derek Jeter had three hits and tied Lou Gehrig for number one on the all time Yankees hit list. Joba Chamberlain went his scheduled three innings, giving up two earned runs in an ineffective first inning before settling down and pitching a strong second and third.  Jeter bunted for a hit in the first inning followed that up with a double and a single. The Yankees trailed 2-0 going into the eighth but Jorge Posado came off the bench and after the count got to 3-2 before hitting a three run homer that finished off the Rays. The win capped the Yankees four game sweep of Tampa. Final box score: Rays – 2 runs, 3 hits, 2 errors; Yankees – 4 runs, 10 hits, 0 errors.
