Hughes’ Sharp, Yankees Roll

May 25, 2009.  The New York Yankees had their way with the Texas Rangers this afternoon winning 11-1.  Phil Hughes was very sharp, going eight full  innings of shutout ball, giving up only three hits while striking out six and walking only one.  The only inning where he ran into ‘trouble’ was the second; Texas had two runners on but Hughes worked out of it without giving up a run.  Alex Rodriguez showed signs of coming into full form, going five for five (threee singles, two doubles, four rbi,2 runs scored).  Every Yankee starter had at least one hit.  Final box score: Yankees 11runs, 19 hits, 0 errors;  Rangers 1 run, 4 hits, 0 errors.  Next game: Tuesday, May 26th, 2:05 PM, New York at Texas.
