Yankees Defeat Sox in Ten
Friday, August 28, 2009. The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox tonight with another dramatic walk off victory. Robbie Cano won it in the tenth with his first walk off homerun, a three run shot. It was the Yankees eleventh walk off win this season. Johnny Damon and Derk Jeter also homered for the Yanks. CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched a gem into the seventh when the Sox tied the game at two apiece. CC stuck out ten. Phil Hughs pitched the eighth and stuck out the side. Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless ninth and Brian Burney got a scoreless tenth and earned the win. Final box score: White Sox – 2 runs, 8 hits, 1 error; Yankees – 5 runs, 10 hits, 0 errors.
