Yankees Move into First
Friday, May 29, 2009. The New York Yankees moved into sole poscession of first place tonight by defeating the Cleveland Indians 3-1. The Yankees socred a couple of runs early off of Cliff Lee, giving Andy Pettitte a little breathing room. Andy went five innings before being removed in the sixth with a stiff back. Alfredo Aceves came in with two on, allowing only one run to score. Alfredo pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth, Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth, picking up another save.
